Died September 11, 1953 in Korea Captain Whincup was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was the pilot of a F-84G Thunderjet fighter with the 310th Fighter-Bomber Squadron, 58th Fighter-Bomber Group. On September 11, 1953, he was killed in an aircraft accident. Captain Whincup was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
